30 Day Monster Girl Challenge
Day 23 - Yokai
Such a broad category! I see a lot of Nine Tails and those umbrella things, but i was torn between a kappa and this, a hannya. I haven’t seen anyone attempt a hannya since I started tracking other people attempting this, and in fact had never heard of them, but I liked the concept and decided to do my own interpretation. There’s not a lot to go off of besides one terrifying old demon and a lot of masks, but essentially a hannya is either a woman so overcome by jealousy that she begins to turn into a demon, or a demon in disguise as a woman who regardless has extreme problems with envy.
I opted to keep the “monster” aspect mostly subtle, trying my best to make her expression feel jealous and leaving the mask and a couple smaller visual hints as my nods to her true nature.
I like this one a lot but got a bit overambitious with it and it wound up taking four sittings. =3=;
Coming up next is the BS week where I’m seeing most artists opt for open requests or doing their own thing, simply because the final 6 days are really vague and the last few are incredibly time consuming. I’m down for whatever, but if you have any you’d like to see me take a crack at, feel free to drop me a line and I’ll consider it.
